Monster Hunter Wilds Leak Could Make a Legendary Fight Much Worse

Although players only got a small taste of what’s to come, that is Monster Hunter Wilds Beta seems to be everything hopeful fans want from one MH Titles in the current console generation. It’s the best looking title in the series and has added a lot of new features that one thinks will be great by the time of full release. Weapon swapping, a huge open world to explore, a friendly cast of NPCs, and extreme weather conditions that alter the hunting environment are all new territory wilderness.

Another new feature shown in the MH Wilds Beta was the herd function, The hunt is about defeating an alpha monster surrounded by its smaller variants. These hunts encourage hunters to use dung pods to separate the alpha monster from the rest of the herd, although few brave or stubborn people can decide to simply take on the entire herd. Even after separation, the herd will attempt to regroup during the hunt, and while the feature adds a sense of realism to the game, it could pose a problem if recent leaks are to be believed.

Monster Hunter Wilds leak could mean a return for iconic monsters

The monster roster could be the greatest of all time

A recent leak published by TheNadei on Reddit shows datamined codes and which monsters these codes affect. While the beta only featured new monsters, with the Rey Dau being the biggest fight in the testing environment, these codes confirm what many fans of the Monster hunter Already know the series. There will be a whole host of returning monsters from previous games filling out the field MH Wilds Roster next to the game Originals.

Including
Iceborne,
There were 94 monsters in total
MH world
but the complete monster list of
wilderness

still needs to be confirmed.

Although the leak does not contain information about each individual piece of code and the monster that the code correlates with, some iconic monsters are expected to make an expected, but still great, return. To no one’s surprise, both The Rathian and Rathalos will return wildernessthe latter being the series’ mascot. According to the leak, other monsters such as Yian Kut-Ku and Gravios will also appear, with these monsters being a pair that appeared in the very first part Monster hunter back on the PS2.

Numerous monsters reappear throughout the series, regardless of where they first appeared Most people tend to stay fairly faithful to their first appearanceBut MW Wilds will be making some changes thanks to the new alpha and herding system. According to the leak, there will be an Alpha Rathalos, with the potential of an Alpha Fulgur Anjanath and an Alpha Ebony Odogaron. These will likely be larger and more dangerous variants of the monsters at the head of the herds, but too many alpha variants could be a problem in the future.

An Alpha Rathalos might be more trouble than he’s worth

A flying flock might be a step too far

Fighting a group of Rathalos could be more annoying than difficult whether there will be an alpha variant, assuming that all monsters in the herd can fly, breathe fire and poison their enemies with their claws. The other monsters that have alpha variants so far are all non-flying, and mechanically it seems like they would be a better choice to fight as a group. The Alpha Ebony Odogaron seems to make the most sense considering this monster has a lot of dog-like tendencies and is one of the smaller monsters in the roster.

It should be noted that the herding system has not been tested that much by players so far MH Wilds Beta, considering that The Alpha Doshaguma and its smaller variants are not all that dangerousespecially compared to people like Rey Dau. Still, fighting a herd of Rathalos seems like a big step, as the Rathalos were considered the top of the food chain Monster Hunter World‘s Ancient Forest, which makes it comparable to the Rey Dau, at least in theory. For all the Rathalos can do, facing a herd might not be worth it.

The Alpha Rathalos and his fire-breathing friends could be placed later in the game after the first Rathalos fight to get players ready for that fight, but that brings its own problems. Unless there is a special armor set for the Alpha Rathalos, It may not be worth facing the herd unless it’s a story mission. Since the herd and alpha system is so new, it could also introduce some balancing issues, as it doesn’t seem like Alpha Doshaguma and his crew are giving players a good indication of what they’ll be facing in the final release expected.

The Rathalos is an icon of the series for a reason

Its difficulty is not to be despised

The people who fight monsters in Monster Hunter World.

The Rathalos is perhaps the most iconic monster in the series and is usually one of the tougher wyverns. In MH world It was the equal of the Diablos and was often considered a companion (or at least a male counterpart) of the Rathian. It is also a monster with a silver variant that is significantly more difficult, but that doesn’t mean the normal variant is the easiest to tackle. Yes, It’s often far from the toughest monsters out there Monster hunter games will throw at his players, but it’s not like fighting the Doshaguma, for example.

Monster Hunter Wilds is already better than MH World for one important reason

Monster Hunter Wilds seems to have everything fans could want, and even without a demo there are already massive improvements over MH World.

Fight as many tough flying monsters with one Rathalos’ equipment would be extremely difficult at worst and quite annoying at best. Fighting Rathian and Rathalos together is disorienting enough, and while Dung Pods should be the first choice, if the beta is to be believed, herds tend to regroup during a hunt and are swarmed by giant, fire-breathing lizards, in particular around the Scarlet Forest, might be angry. It’s also against something Monster hunter has done it with the Rathalos in the past.

It feels like an Alpha Rathalos and a herd of its smaller, weaker variants Monster Hunter Wilds It should be natural for Rathalos and Rathian to be a powerful couple. Just because there is a herd system doesn’t mean it is that way “Monster Hunter”s icon should be a part of this, especially since Ebony Odogaron and Fulgar Anjanath feel like they could work well in a herd. Still, the full version of the game isn’t out yet and there could be more systems in place to make herds work for the Alpha Rathalos to make combat fun.
