MPD arrests woman who allegedly hit another driver after a road rage incident

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A 71-year-old driver was arrested Thursday afternoon after she lost her control and allegedly hit another person, officials said.

Madison police were notified around 12:15 p.m. that two cars were checking their brakes and swerving between each other near South Gammon Road and Highway 12.

According to authorities, both cars came to a stop at a red light. There, a passenger got out of one of the cars to take a photo of the other.

Madison police said the 71-year-old woman, who was driving the other car, then hit the gas pedal and hit the passenger who took the photo.

She was arrested for second-degree recklessly endangering safety, a first offense of driving while intoxicated, and was ticketed for having an open container of alcohol, MPD said.
