Samsung announced the Galaxy Watch Ultra this summer – it was marketed as a competitor to the Apple Watch Ultrawith a focus on outdoor and training functions. Fast forward four months after its release, and now you can get the Galaxy Watch Ultra starting in 2021 $474.99 (originally $649.99), the lowest price ever, according to price check tools.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra outperforms other watches in one aspect: outdoor functions. If you are an avid hiker or an athlete who spends many hours outdoors, this smartwatch is a good choice. The biggest downside is that it only comes in a 47mm size and the screen is a 1.47-inch Super AMOLED display (it’s brighter than previous Samsung AMOLED smartwatches).

Like a good sturdy watch, this one is sturdy, made from grade 4 titanium and has an IP68 rating against water and dust. You can also take it to high altitudes (up to 30,000 feet) and it can withstand pressure up to 10 ATM (approximately 330 feet underwater). You also get a built-in siren for emergencies, and since it’s the LTE version, you don’t have to rely on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth for satellite signal (and yes, you can take calls through it).

The watch uses Samsung’s Wear OS and has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. The 590mAh battery is one of the best in its price range, making it very competitive and perfect for outdoor use. If you don’t use power saving modes it will last for 60 hours, but if you’re conservative it can last up to 100 hours.

One of this watch’s new features is AI-based health metrics and advanced sleep tracking, which you can read more about in PCMag’s “excellent” review. If you’re looking for a cheaper option for more general use, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 is for you $229 (originally $299.99) is a great option.
