Nomad Black Titanium Apple Watch Band review: Expensive and elegant

If you own either of the new Jet Black Apple Watch Series 10 or Black Apple Watch Ultra 2, the Nomad Black Titanium Band is worth a look. It could be the best combination of looks and toughness. The new band is beautiful and offers elegant, high-quality workmanship. However, elegance comes at a price… and a high price.

At $300 (currently $240), the Nomad Black Titanium Band is pricey, but it’s one of the few bands that can transform the look of your Apple Watch from sporty to classy. It’s designed for those who want their smartwatch to have the appeal of a classic watch – a watch you can wear with formal wear.

The Apple Watch has a noble watch atmosphere

The Nomad Titanium Band is available in two color options: Black Hardware and Natural Hardware. Both are available in two sizes, 46mm/49mm and 41mm/42mm, and are compatible with all Apple Watches currently on the market. I used the black version with my Watch Series 10 and am thrilled.

The Black Hardware titanium bracelet is made of Grade 5 titanium with a scratch-resistant DLC coating, while the natural version uses Grade 2 titanium. For comparison: Grade 5 has a higher strength-to-weight ratio and is more scratch-resistant than Grade 2, making the black variant more robust.

The titanium construction reduces weight to a minimum and feels extremely light on the wrist. I don’t normally wear a smartwatch with a suit or formal shirt, but Nomad’s Black Titanium Band feels perfect for a dress watch.

The company claims it won’t rust, so you can wear it poolside. Since I don’t swim, I wasn’t able to test this claim, but during my use I didn’t notice any signs of wear and tear from regular use. Nomad recommends rinsing the band with fresh water after your gym workout and allowing it to “dry completely in a warm, sunny location after exposure to moisture.”

If you have hair on your wrist, releasing the grip can be a little uncomfortable, but I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort factor while sleeping. The band is breathable and comfortable on the wrist, even when sleeping. If you use your Apple Watch for sleep tracking, it should be as comfortable as sports bands. I wore it for at least 10 nights without any problems.

The DLC coating is said to be “exceptionally durable but intentionally softer than most metal laptops” and prevents the band from scratching your laptop as you type. I can confirm that it works and has not scratched my laptop yet.

The resizing experience

As with the steel and aluminum straps, the titanium bracelet also comes with a link removal set from Nomad. I recommend watching Nomad’s official instruction video before adjusting the size of your band. Aside from the first three tabs on each side (they are custom-made), you can remove additional tabs.

The process is simple but requires patience. Align the tape with the connection removal tool and use the needle to push the pin out from the opposite side. It sometimes requires a lot of force, so be careful not to damage the needle. Repeat the process for each tab that needs to be removed. When you’re finished, insert the small pin into its position inside the tab, then add the rest of the ribbon and insert the larger pin into the hole.

In my experience, the insertion process was a bit laborious and I mistakenly used more force than necessary. Do not do this as it may damage the pen. Make sure the tabs are precisely aligned before applying force to push the pin in. Luckily, Nomad provides a few extra pins in case you lose or damage them.

Nomad Black Titanium Apple Watch Band Review: Verdict

The Nomad Titanium Band in Black Hardware is my favorite band for the Apple Watch due to its look and sturdy build.

It has transformed my smartwatch into something I can wear with formal outfits without compromising on function, even when I need to work out. It’s the best of both worlds, with a lightweight, comfortable design and a sophisticated look.

If you’re looking to spend $300 (currently $240) on an Apple Watch band, the Nomad Titanium Band is the way to go.
