Notre Dame faces a Florida State team that has nothing but pride to be proud of for the rest of the season. Opponents who have nothing left to lose are often the most dangerous. Despite the Irish leading 7-3 after the first quarter, the Seminoles showed they will be no pushovers.

The Irish needed just 103 seconds to get the score started. The middle of their first drive featured a 28-yard completion from Riley Leonard to Aneyas Williams. The highlight was Leonard running 34 for the game’s first touchdown.

The Seminoles’ first possession lasted nearly half the quarter, but was helped by an Irish defensive penalty on fourth down. Despite reaching the Irish 4-yard line, the Seminoles could only muster a chip-shot field goal from Ryan Fitzgerald to get them on the field.

After that, there was a lot of nothing with four consecutive three-and-outs, two for each team. Jadarian Price broke that streak with a first-down run in the final minute. He was without Anthonie Knapp, the Irish’s starting left tackle, who was benched during the quarter with an undisclosed injury.
