One was killed in a fatal early morning crash on I-75

CINCINNATI – A man is now dead after he was hit on I-75 while checking a broken down vehicle Sunday morning.

According to a news release from the Cincinnati Police Department, emergency crews responded to a report of a crash around 1:30 a.m. at the 6.3 mile marker on I-75 North.

When emergency crews arrived on scene, they discovered a disabled Chevrolet Malibu parked on the right embankment with its occupants, a 47-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, outside the vehicle investigating the problem.

According to the release, a 30-year-old man was driving a Honda Accord north on I-75 when he lost control of the vehicle, veered off the right side of the road and struck the Chevrolet Malibu and the 47-year-old man next to it.

The 47-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by the Cincinnati Fire Department to University Hospital Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

There were no other injuries as a result of the accident.

Excessive speed and impairment are probably not causes of an accident.

This is an ongoing investigation.
