Pitchfork Music Fest leaves Chicago

CHICAGO — Pitchfork will not host a music festival in Chicago in 2025, organizers announced Monday.

Organizers didn’t say why they’re leaving Chicago, saying only that “the music festival landscape continues to evolve rapidly” and Pitchfork will host more events. The festival has been held in Chicago for nearly two decades and has been a standard stop for local music lovers during the festival season.

This year’s fest took place in Union Park in July and featured headliners Jamie xx, Alanis Morissette and Black Pumas, as well as Carly Rae Jepsen, Grandmaster Flash, De La Soul and various local bands.

“This decision was not made lightly,” Pitchfork organizers wrote on Twitter. “For 19 years, Pitchfork Music Festival has been a celebration of music, art and community – a place where memories have been made, voices have been amplified, and a shared love of music has brought us all together.”

Ald. Walter Burnett (27th) said the city doesn’t want Pitchfork to leave and will try to persuade organizers to stay.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
