Pittsburgh Steelers safety blasts former team: ‘Soft as (expletive)’

Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott might be the smoothest shooter in the entire locker room. Steelers players don’t have a hard time telling each other like it is or being direct, even in media sessions, but Elliott went completely to the point on Marlon Humphrey’s Punch Line podcast when discussing the 2023 Miami Dolphins .

Elliott signed with the Steelers this offseason after playing for the Dolphins last year. He didn’t mince his words, calling last year’s Dolphins team as a collective “tender (expletive).”

“Last year I played on a team that was soft (expletive) … there were a few guys that were tough, but the majority of the team weren’t mentally strong individuals,” Elliott said.

The Dolphins lost in the playoffs, Elliott started. Elliott was forced to take over due to injury after being signed as a reserve, but he has taken his game to a new level this year with the Steelers as a strong safety.

The Steelers won’t play the Dolphins this season, but they will face them in 2025. Elliott signed a two-year deal, and given his performance so far, there’s no reason to believe he won’t be in Pittsburgh for such a game circled next year.
