Pius XI Catholic High School Closed for a week after graffiti incident

UPDATE November 8th at 3:00 p.m.: Pius XI Catholic High School is extending virtual learning for one more school day: Monday, November 11th.

School officials say the additional day will give teachers and staff more time to train in “enhanced safety procedures.”

Milwaukee police are still investigating the identity of the suspect who posted threatening graffiti on the school’s exterior walls.


MILWAUKEE – After school staff found threatening graffiti on the main entrance to Pius XI Catholic High School, administrators have decided to teach remotely for the rest of the week.

Milwaukee police are investigating the incident and working with Pius XI associates. together to find more information and determine the severity of this threat. They stated that virtual learning will take place November 6-8 and there will be no classes on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

They believed this decision was “in the best interest of all students, families and staff.” An update shared with WTMJ by school officials reads as follows:

“Pius XI. Collaborates with law enforcement and other security professionals to develop and implement enhanced security protocols. Parents and guardians will be notified of the details of these enhanced safety measures as they become available.”

According to security footage obtained by the school, the vandalism occurred around 12:50 a.m. CST on November 4, 2024. Only one person appeared to be responsible and had no access to or access to the interior of the building.

School officials said the graffiti was removed from the building after Milwaukee police finished collecting physical evidence from the crime scene.

The school is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them at the phone number below [email protected]. According to their social media, they are offering a cash reward to anyone who provides information leading to the identification of the suspect.
