Pokémon TCG Pocket Next Expansion – Rumors and Leaks

Pokémon TCG Pocket looks to be another profitable venture for The Pokémon Company, and since that journey is just beginning, we’re breaking down everything we know about the next Pokémon Pocket expansion and rounding up the latest leaks and rumors.

The release phase of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket was a success, bringing in an impressive $12 million in its first four days. The community hoarded the shop’s Poké Gold supplies and spent heavily to get the rarest cards and complete their collection. However, the debut set of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is just the beginning, with many generations of Pokémon cards to come.

However, leaks and datamines have revealed information about the future of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, and if you’re a fan (like me), the future looks pretty fun if it’s true.

Do we know what the next pocket expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game is?

We always want new cards. Thanks to The Pokémon Company

Neither The Pokémon Company nor leakers and dataminers have been able to determine exact details about the next major expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. However, a major leak has revealed that the first season – also known as the Genetic Apex Set – is supposedly ending January 29, 2025. If this report is true, The next expansion of the Pokémon trading card game Pocket is expected to prepare for its second season at the end of January 2025.

The set doesn’t have a name and we haven’t seen any cards revealed, but translated leaks have surfaced online, lifting the curtain on plans and new features.

Leaked details and rumors about the second season of the Pokémon trading card game Pocket

The datamined information for Pokémon TCG Pocket Season 2 comes from a translated Pokémon TCG Pocket subreddit post – via the original source from Pokémon Scroll – which states: “January 29, 2025: Set A2 is released, a new complete set similar in size to Genetic Apex, containing 226 cards.

It’s also claimed that the new expansion set features plenty of “new cards” and continues Season 1’s content strategy of releasing special promo cards throughout the season, “releasing approximately six weeks after each core set.”

The leaked Pokémon TCG Pocket roadmap also hints at a number of new items and gameplay features:

  • New types of tickets.
  • Rainbow Rarity Cards – probably just as rare as Crown Cards.
  • New flair designs.
  • New fishing mode (similar to Wonder Picks) with a chance to win free daily items and goodies.

Of course, this should all be taken with a grain of salt, but the subreddit post’s claims and information have proven to be 100% accurate so far. Both developers and publishers can change their minds at any time, and plans for the Pokémon TCG Pocket are subject to change – so stay tuned.
