Police disperse election unrest in Skandia Township on Tuesday afternoon

SKANDIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) – While in Upper Michigan most voters in polls were civilians, one town in Marquette County had to call law enforcement to deal with a voter.

Skandia Township Elections Inspector Kathy Johnson said a middle-aged voter yelled at poll workers at the township’s community center Tuesday afternoon.

She says the man shouted political statements and was then asked to leave several times. Johnson says police were called and he was escorted from the building.

“He refused and became more and more agitated, and it became kind of loud and not very pleasant for any of us,” Johnson said.

All Skandia Municipality election inspectors said they were happy that the incident was resolved quickly and no one was injured.
