Police say pills seized during drug investigations have the potential to kill hundreds of thousands of people

HAMMOND, La. (WAFB) – An investigation has led to the largest fentanyl seizure in Tangipahoa Parish history.

According to the Hammond Police Department, authorities executed a search warrant at a home on Wednesday, November 6th. The home is located on Blackburn Extension on North Morrison Boulevard in Hammond.

Police said more than 100,000 pills were found during the search. Police added that 27.85 pounds of the pills tested positive for fentanyl and 2.74 pounds of the pills tested positive for methamphetamine. Additionally, 14.2 pounds of round white pills were found that were pressed as oxycodone pills, but which police said were suspected to be fentanyl. They added that 21 bottles of promethazine were also found during the search.

Police said the quantity of pills seized had the potential to kill hundreds of thousands of people.

According to authorities, the search warrant led to the arrest of Marvin Thorn, 69, of Hammond.

The investigation was conducted by the Hammond Police Department and the DEA’s Fentanyl Overdose Response Team.
