Power outage in Meridian affecting more than 3,000 customers

UPDATE (as of 12:20 p.m.): Several thousand residents were able to get power again, but around 3,700 still remained without power. Idaho Power said power will be restored to remaining customers by 1:30 p.m

Shortly before 11 a.m. Monday, thousands of Idaho Power customers lost power in and around Meridian – affecting more than 14,000 customers, according to Idaho Power.

The problem primarily affects Meridian residents, but some area residents in Boise and Eagle are also affected.

The cause of the outage is still under investigation, but crews are already on scene and Idaho Power hopes to have power restored by 1:30 p.m

With a major power outage in Meridian, the Ada County Highway District is reminding motorists to treat the intersection as a four-way stop when they encounter a “dark mode” or “flashing mode” signal. In the event of a power outage, traffic signals essentially become stop signs.
