Pregnant woman’s unborn child dies in car crash in Phoenix, PD says

A pregnant woman involved in a car crash in Phoenix lost her unborn child, police said.

The crash occurred nearby 51st Avenue and Baseline Road around 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 10th.

“When officers arrived they found four vehicles involved in a collision. Firefighters responded and transported three people to the hospital, including a pregnant woman,” police said.

The victims are expected to survive, but unfortunately the pregnant woman’s baby died.

“Preliminary information indicates a vehicle was traveling south on 51st Avenue when it failed to stop at a red light at Baseline Road and rear-ended an SUV that was stopped at the light. The collision pushed the SUV forward, causing two other cars to crash. “The pregnant woman was a passenger in the first vehicle that failed to stop at the light,” Phoenix police said.

Speed ​​was likely a factor, police added.

“The investigation remains active as detectives continue to process the evidence. A charging decision will be made at the conclusion of the investigation,” the department said.
