After one of the best games of his college career, Quinn Ewers is adding more weekly accolades to his resume. On Monday, the Longhorns’ star QB was named to the Davey O’Brien Great 8 lists. The honor is no surprise after Ewers seemed unstoppable against the Gators.

In the Longhorns’ win over Florida, Ewers completed 19 of his 27 passes for 333 yards. He set a new career high with five touchdown passes, which nearly tied the school record. Since Ewers seemed unstoppable, he also achieved several milestones in his career.

On Saturday, the talented junior became the fourth SEC quarterback since 1996 to throw five touchdown passes of 20 yards in a conference game. That list includes Tua Tagovailoa, Joe Cox and Jared Lorenzen. He also extended his passing touchdown streak to 20 consecutive games, which is currently the longest streak in the FBS.

As the Longhorns pursue a national championship, Ewers is in the midst of the best season of his college career. He scored multiple passing touchdowns in six of his seven starts this season, including three-plus touchdowns in consecutive games. Despite being on the bench during the Georgia game, Ewers quickly turned the page and reminded himself of his value.

With the regular season over, Ewers should continue to be a prominent name in weekly and annual awards. He was also named a Maxwell Award semifinalist on Tuesday.
