Rare iPhone prototype “Vesica Piscis” leaked [Video]

A rare “Vesica Piscis” iPhone prototype has leaked, apparently used to test haptic feedback volume and power buttons – features that were once rumored but never released.

The prototype shared by “Apple Demo” on YouTube combines elements of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro. This is not a functional unit, but rather appears to have been used to test certain new components.

On the back of the prototype, the Apple logo was replaced with the Vesica Piscis symbol, a shape historically associated with creation and innovation.

The unique hardware variants include a copper-coated battery, placeholders for the front camera and the Face ID module, machined metal parts without electronic function, no connection between the screen and the motherboard, and unpopulated internal connectors.

Most notably, the prototype introduces haptic feedback for the volume and power buttons – a change that was widely rumored for the iPhone but never implemented. Apple had reportedly undertaken an attempt called “Project Bongo” to integrate haptic feedback into physical buttons. However, this functionality is not yet included in a production model.

The prototype doesn’t power up like a typical iPhone, but appears in macOS under the codename “Bender,” a nod to the popular Futurama character. When the connection is established, basic initialization functions will appear.
