Relative arrested in connection with woman’s death in her Westminster home – NBC Los Angeles

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder for allegedly killing a relative in her Westminster home, authorities said.

According to Commander Andy Stowers of the Westminster Police Department, officers were dispatched to the woman’s home in the 8200 block of 19th Street at 9:45 p.m. Friday to conduct a welfare check because she had not been heard from in several days.

“During animal control, the woman was determined to be dead,” Stowers said. “The evidence at the scene suggests her death was the result of murder.”

A search warrant at the house uncovered evidence and “almost immediately” a relevant person was arrested and taken to the police station, he said.

Irving Mondragon, 38, a family member of the victim, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

No information has been released about how the two are related. It was also unclear how the woman was killed.

Westminster police are asking anyone with information about the murder to call 714-548-3783 or 714-548-3767. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at www.occrimestoppers.org or 855-847-6227.
