RIP Tony Todd – “Candyman” star has died aged 69

All of us here at Bloody Disgusting are devastated to hear this Tony Toddthe legendary actor who played the title character Candyman (1992) and its sequels and appeared in Train And The crow (1994), among more than 240 film and television appearances spanning 40 years, died on November 6th at his home in Los Angeles. He was 69 years old. Deadline first reported the news.

“The 6-foot-3 Todd starred in Tom Savini’s 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead as Ben, the role played by Duane Jones in George A. Romero’s legendary 1968 original. His next big role is probably his most famous – playing the mythical titular sneak with a hook as his sidekick Candyman (1992) – a character he reprized in the 2021 sequel of the same name.”

Todd also had an influential role in this Final destination Films as coroner William Bludworth, who fans speculate is either the Grim Reaper or Satan himself. He also appeared in Wishmaster (1997) and Adam Green ax (2006) and Freeforms Dead of summer and MTV/VH1’s Scream.

The website further noted that Todd guest-starred on such popular series of the 1980s and 1990s 21 Jump Street, Night Court, MacGyver, Matlock, Jake and the Fatman, Law & Order, The X-Files, NYPD Blue, Beverly Hills 90210, Xena: Warrior Princesses And Murder, she wrote And Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine And Voyager.
