RTX 3080 black screen crash and fan at 100% **My solution and it works**

This is my solution to the black screen crash with 100% fan on my RTX 3080 10GB, a Gigabyte Auros Xtreme Rev2. I got it used at a great price largely because of this issue.

After weeks of watching YouTube videos, searching the internet and tweaking, mostly underclocking and curve editing, nothing worked. I finally decided to increase the core voltage and monitor it to make sure it doesn’t go above 1.1V. Well, after a few days of playing games without crashes, I finally found a solution.

Using MSI Afterburner I increased my core voltage to +15. That’s it. It crashed at +5 and +10. I tried increasing the core clock to +10MHz with the +15 core voltage but it crashed. So +15 core voltage was enough.

Personally, I like to set my fan profile to 30% at 30°C and 100% at 70°C.

Looking at the hardware monitor, the maximum core clock was 1995 MHz, it never went above 2000 MHz. The maximum voltage was 1.081 V.

Taking a closer look using the curve editor, the core voltage supposedly rises to 1.118V at 1995MHz, but I suspect the hardware monitor isn’t picking up this voltage increase. At the maximum voltage of 1.081, the clock frequency is 1982 MHz.

Therefore your mileage may vary. Increasing the core voltage so that the curve editor responds in a similar manner will resolve the black screen crash with fans at 100%. I hope this helps.
