Sergeant Ofir Eliyahu was killed in northern Gaza – Israel News

Ofir Eliyahu was killed in combat in the northern Gaza Strip along with three other soldiers from the Shimshon Battalion (92) of the Kfir Brigade.

Eliyahu was 20 years old and came from Holon. Like the others, he served in the Kfir Brigade.

“Ofir always told me: ‘Mom, I enlisted as a fighter and I’m coming back as a fighter,” said his mother Nadi Ynet. “Ofir enlisted as a fighter in August 2022, was wounded in training, was rehabilitated and then returned to the unit. Even when he sustained a ligament injury in his knee, he went to the medical center every day asking to return to the fight.”

“Ofir and his friends just wanted to fight for the country. “This is the price of war,” said his father Ami.

He leaves behind his parents and a sister. He was an avid fan of the Hapoel Holon basketball team and planned to travel to the United States with friends after completing his service.

An explosion killed the four IDF soldiers and the IDF is investigating whether it was an anti-tank missile or an explosive device.

The other three other soldiers killed were Staff Sergeant Orr Katz, 20, of Ma’ale Adumim; Staff Sergeant Nave Yair Asulin, 21, of Carmit; and Staff Sergeant Gary Lalhruaikima Zolat, 21, of Afula.
