“SNL” cast cheekily praises Trump in first post-election cold open

The cast of Saturday Night Live cheekily pledged their allegiance to President-elect Donald Trump, claiming they all voted for him in the first election campaign since Tuesday’s historic election.

The skit began with the cast solemnly discussing how Trump’s victory over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris would be “shocking” and “terrifying” for many viewers of the liberal-leaning show.

They then said that Trump may be seeking “revenge” against political opponents, prompting longtime cast member Kenan Thompson to say, “We at SNL want to tell Donald Trump that we’ve been on your side all along.”

“We have never wavered in our support for you, even when others have doubted you,” Bowen Yang said sarcastically, followed by each of the main cast talking about how much they love and have always loved the president-elect.

“Weekend Update” anchor Colin Jost then said that his colleague Michael Che was the only person against Trump.

“I hate how the lame media, Michael Che, has to twist it to make you look stupid,” he said.

Dana Carvey – who previously appeared as President Joe Biden – appeared on stage impersonating Elon Musk.

“Look at Dark MAGA,” Carvey said while jumping up and down.

“But seriously, I run the country now.”

Comedian Bill Burr hosted the late-night show and delivered an opening comedy monologue poking fun at both Harris and Trump.

Burr said during his 15-minute monologue that he was “excited” that the election was over and took a dig at Harris and former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for wearing pantsuits in their failed campaigns against Trump.

“Ladies, enough with the pantsuits; “It’s not working,” Burr said.

“Stop having respect for yourself. You don’t win office, as is the case in politics, you have to mess it up a little. I’m not saying fill up Hooters, but finding a happy medium between Applebee’s and your dad didn’t stop there.”

“I know that ugly women – feminists – don’t want to hear this message, they just tease it a little; Make a farmer feel like they have a chance,” Burr continued to offer scattered applause.

Burr then focused on Trump, calling him a “lunatic” and an “orange fanatic.”

He joked that Trump only survived his assassination attempt during a July 13 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, because of his “jerky” dance moves.

“You just can’t pin the guy down. The guy is a lunatic,” Burr said.

“I mean, he literally got shot and immediately jumped back up and started screaming in the direction the bullets were coming from – unarmed. He is not a wise person.”
