Steph Curry’s 5-word response to Klay Thompson after Mavericks-Warriors

The Dallas Mavericks tipped off NBA Cup group play as they headed west. They faced the Golden State Warriors in Klay Thompson’s return to the Bay Area after he left the club as a free agent this offseason.

The Mavericks ended up losing 120-117, while the Warriors finished with an impressive 9-2 record this season, while Dallas now has a losing record of 5-6. Thompson was on the other side of an explosive game from Steph Curry as he scored 37 points.

“It hurts to be on the other side [Curry’s] “The guy was hot at the end and took some ridiculous shots,” Thompson said in his postgame press conference. I’ve been on the other end and it sucks. But we’ll play them three more times so we can hopefully learn from it and get to know their tendencies a little better.

However, Thompson was partly the reason Curry was chosen for the match. His return was emotional, even though the ball tipped over and it was back to business. The Mavericks sharpshooter got Curry’s signature “Shimmy” celebration after hitting a three-pointer.

Curry ended up having an incredible game after Thompson capitalized on his celebration, then was asked about it at the buzzer.

“He knows better,” Curry said during his postgame NBA interview on TNT.

It’s no surprise that the superstar had to troll his former teammate after a narrow, exciting win on his own turf. Off the field, the two have a brotherly relationship. As Thompson mentioned, they play three more times this season and the Mavericks will do their best to win the next few contests.
