Tackle Austin Jackson among the Miami Dolphins’ roster moves

The Miami Dolphins made their usual series of pregame roster moves on Monday, with one additional and significant move.

The Dolphins placed starting right tackle Austin Jackson on injured reserve due to the knee injury that had already ruled him out.

As expected, the Dolphins activated wide receiver River Cracraft from injured reserve after he completed his second week of practice.

The Dolphins also signed practice squad defensive tackle Neil Farrell to the active roster and eventually promoted long snapper Tucker Addington and tackle Jackson Carman the game against the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on Monday.

Finally, the Dolphins downgraded rookie sixth-round pick Patrick McMorris to waivers after his first week of practice after being designated to return from injured reserve.

Jackson suffered a knee injury last Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, which head coach Mike McDaniel said flared up after the 30-27 loss.

He hasn’t practiced all week.

Veteran Kendall Lamm is expected to start at right tackle in Jackson’s place, although second-round rookie Patrick Paul always remains a possibility.

Jackson started the first eight games of the 2024 season. In fact, the Dolphins had their starting five on offense intact except for one through the first eight games. The only exception was Monday night’s Week 4 game against the Tennessee Titans, when left tackle Terron Armstead was sidelined with a concussion and Paul started in his place.

With the addition of Cracraft, the Dolphins have six wide receivers on the active roster, although Tyreek Hill is questionable due to his wrist injury and Dee Eskridge did not practice on Friday or Saturday for personal reasons. The best guess here is that Eskridge will be inactive unless Hill is unable to play.

Farrell took over the 53 spot from second-year Brandon Pili, who was released on Saturday. Farrell was promoted to two games after being signed to the practice squad.

This will be the first promotion for both Addington and Carman, and it could be the last for Addington if the Dolphins decide to activate Blake Ferguson from the Reserve/Non-Football Illness list for their next game as he returns to the Return is permitted.

Los Angeles, meanwhile, will have two offensive players in the starting lineup again on Monday night, with the team activating both Steve Avila and Jonah Jackson.

However, the Rams will be without starter Rob Havenstein as he is sidelined with an ankle injury.

The Rams also called up defensive end Jonah Williams from the practice squad and waived offensive lineman Logan Bruss.
