Teen charged with murder of Pensacola girl, arrested again for threatening witness

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – One of the teens charged in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old girl in Escambia County earlier this year was arrested again this week for allegedly threatening a witness in the case.

Michael Fulater, 19, was charged Tuesday with tampering with a witness. He is now being held without bail.

Fulater and 16-year-old Glen Janes III were both arrested in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Cayenne Thompson in June.

Jane’s III was charged with involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of a weapon by a minor, while Fulatr was charged with accessory after the fact to manslaughter and destruction of evidence.

Thompson was shot in the head as he lay on a mattress at a home in the 4500 block of Montclair Road around 1 p.m. on June 3.

The arrest report states Janes III claimed he was playing with a gun when the shooting occurred. He and Fulater then both destroyed evidence after the shooting.

Both teenagers were released on bail or conditional release after turning themselves in following the incident.

According to Fulater’s new arrest report, officers spoke in late October with a witness in the case who is scheduled to testify on Dec. 4.

According to the report, Fulater recently called the witness and said he was “knocking.” [the witness’] Teeth out” if the witness did not say otherwise in the upcoming deposition. Deputies obtained a recording of the call.

Fulater’s next court date is November 27th, while Janes III’s next court date is January 21st.
