The 70-year-old New London man filed repair requests before injuring two people and taking his own life in an apartment shooting

NEW LONDON, Ohio (WOIO) – New London Police Chief Joseph Hicks released new information Saturday about a shooting at an apartment complex that left one person dead and two injured.

According to Chief Hicks, the 70-year-old suspected shooter submitted multiple requests for repairs to his home and felt “his wishes were not adequately met.”

The suspect was also preparing for an upcoming site inspection when he shot and killed two office workers at the Windy Acres assisted living complex on Friday.

Officers were called to the complex shortly before 11 a.m. regarding an active shooter.

According to Chief Hicks, police determined that the two injured employees escaped through a window from a locked office.

According to Chief Hicks, a 56-year-old worker suffered a head injury and a 52-year-old worker suffered an upper body injury.

Both victims were taken to the hospital and later released to their homes.

The 70-year-old suspect was a resident of the complex and shot himself.

The complex is located at 96 Clifton St.

According to New London Police, the motive is still under investigation.
