The Beatles received their first Grammy nominations since 1997 on Friday.

The Fab Four picked up two awards for their latest – and “final” – song “Now and Then”, winning the Record of the Year category alongside contemporary artists such as Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish.

The legendary rock group also received an award in the “Best Rock Performance” category for the title.

This year’s nomination for “Now and Then” marks the Beatles’ first nominations since the late ’90s, when they won three Grammys in 1997.

Called “the last Beatles song” by Paul McCartney, the track was written by John Lennon, who died in 1980, and features original vocals recorded by Lennon in 1970, preserved using artificial intelligence.

“Now and Then” features new instruments from McCartney and Ringo Starr, the only two surviving Beatles, as well as 1990s guitar recordings by George Harrison, who died in 2001.

The Beatles won their first-ever Grammy at the 7th Grammy Awards in 1965, where they won Best New Artist of 1964 and Best Performance by a Vocal Group for their now timeless hit “A Hard Day’s Night.”

In 1968 they won for their groundbreaking album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” The band has won a total of seven Grammys so far.

However, The Beatles aren’t the only classic rock ‘n’ rollers from that era to be on this year’s list of Grammy nominees. The Rolling Stones received a nomination for best rock album on Friday for their 2023 album “Hackney Diamonds.”

Led by founding members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, the Stones have collectively won three Grammys in their career, most recently in 2018 for their album “Blue & Lonesome” in the category of best traditional blues albums.

They received their first award in 1978 for “Some Girls,” which was named Album of the Year at the time.
