The Dave Coulier Group texted the Full House co-stars about the cancer diagnosis

Dave Coulier feels the love of his ex Full house co-stars after he told them about his cancer diagnosis.

“I didn’t want them to hear it from anyone else, so I sent a text message,” Coulier, 65, said during an interview with People published on Wednesday, November 13th.

The actor who played Joey Gladstone Full house from 1987 to 1995 and performed Fuller house Revival said the reaction from his TV family was “immediate.”

“It was just this statement: ‘I’ll be there.’ Just mention the time and I know you’re in good hands with us [wife Melissa Bring]but what can we do?’” Coulier recalled. “The love we have for each other is truly overwhelming. We’ve been there for each other for so many years and that’s pretty remarkable.”

The tight-knit crew has already overcome tragedies. Bob Sagetwho played Full house Patriarch Danny Tanner died at age 65 in 2022, and Coulier said the loss brought the group even closer together.

“I think we not only value our life together, but we value each other’s lives,” he said. “We appreciate the good times and the positive moments we were able to share. …There’s not a lot of negativity when I’m around this group of people. It’s really just laughter and positivity and making us so appreciative of what we have in our lives and the people around us.”

John Stamoswho played Uncle Jesse on the popular sitcom, plans to visit Coulier later this week as he undergoes chemotherapy.

“He says, ‘If you just want to sleep, I’ll just sit next to you.’ Or if you want to listen to music or just talk, whatever,” Coulier said Stamos, 61, told him before the visit. “And I’m just like, ‘Wow. This is something like a brother. This is really a brother.’”

Coulier received a diagnosis of stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in October after an upper respiratory infection caused severe swelling in his lymph nodes. A subsequent biopsy, PET and CT scans showed he had “very aggressive” cancer.

“I got a bit of a cold and then got cancer and it was pretty overwhelming,” Coulier said. “It was a really fast roller coaster ride.”

Coulier has already received some good news in his battle against cancer: He learned that the disease, which begins in the body’s lymphatic system, has not spread to his bone marrow.

“At that point my chances of recovery went from something low to low [the] 90 percent range,” he said. “And that was a great day.”

Coulier is motivated to keep fighting for Brig, whom he married in 2014.

“I will be strong all the time, not just for myself but for her as well,” he said.

The comedian noted that he is “very happy” with his son Luc, 33, whom he shares with his ex-wife Jayne Modeanand his wife Alex are expecting a baby boy in March.

“I have to teach [my grandson] how to play hockey,” Coulier said.
