The DUSK Music Festival returns to Tucson for its eighth annual event

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Organizers are gearing up for this year’s DUSK Music Festival, which begins Saturday in downtown Tucson.

The festival is expected to welcome 7,500 guests daily, with more than 20 artists taking the stage.

Zachary Keely, lead singer of a local band ZeeCeeKeelywill be among the artists taking the stage for the first time.

“Coming from Tucson, a smaller city, and having my locals appreciate what I’m trying to do as an artist just means the world to me,” Keely said.

The festival director explained that it is all about putting the community at the center.

“We use all local providers as much as possible. All of our food vendors are local. All of our artists are local. We have a local stage where we actually have 20 different artists that we pay money to perform,” Page Repp said.

In addition to big names like Steve Aoki, festivals like Dusk also provide a platform for smaller artists, according to Keely.

“Bigger bands already have the promotion and the people to support them, but a lot of these people who are still trying to emerge are still trying to find ways to share their art and music, and when big festivals give us platforms to do that When we do that, it means everything to us as artists,” Keely said.

Organizers have also created a special viewing area where everyone can enjoy the performances for free. With these new additions and the concert program, the organizers are confident that this will be their most successful year.

While the popular event promises a lively atmosphere, several road closures and restrictions will impact motorists.

Alameda Street will be closed from Scott to Court Avenue, and the southbound lanes of Stone Avenue will be closed at Council Street to Congress. These closures are currently in effect and will be extended later Friday evening.

Due to expected traffic, they recommend using rideshares to get downtown. Further information about the festival can be found at their website.
