The Kings’ DeMar DeRozan left at halftime against the Suns with a back problem

DeMar DeRozan, who leads the team with 24.8 points per game, was ruled out at halftime of the Kings’ Wednesday game against the Phoenix Suns because of lower back tightness.

It’s unclear when the injury occurred, but DeRozan, whose scoring output comes from 17.5 field goal attempts per game, attempted just two shots in the first half.

The former Raptor, now 35, is in his first year with the Kings after splitting the last six evenly between the San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls.

DeRozan has played in all 12 Kings contests this season.

In his absence, the team could look to bring in guard De’Aaron Fox and big man Domantas Sabonis to fill the scoring void.

The team’s next game is Friday at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
