In Ryan Whites documentary Pamela, a love story, Pamela Anderson takes stock of her career. She always dreamed of becoming an actress, but the days of posing for Playboy and the years of running in slow motion continue Baywatch… the stolen sex tape, the multiple marriages, that Scary movie Cameo…it didn’t exactly lead her down the path of respectability. “I always hoped that something would come along where I would do something that would be more interesting to people than my body,” she says.

The documentary reaches its climax with her highly acclaimed entrance Chicago on Broadway. At rehearsals, she offers a meaningful interpretation of Roxie Hart. “Your dream is not to be famous“, she says. “Your dream is to be respected and seen. “To have freedom… It’s not just superficial.” It’s pretty obvious that she’s talking about herself.
