The man fled the accident and then attempted to report his vehicle stolen, state police said

ROCKY HILL, CT (WFSB) – A man involved in a crash in Rocky Hill last month fled from state police and later attempted to report his vehicle stolen.

Officers identified the man as Arashdeep Singh, 24, of Vernon.

According to state police, Singh turned himself in on Monday on an arrest warrant.

According to police, the one-vehicle collision occurred Oct. 27 on Interstate 91 South in Rocky Hill.

According to the arrest warrant, approximately 30 meters of wire rope guardrail were damaged.

Singh was identified as the driver of the vehicle involved. When Vernon police spoke with him, they said he tried to report the vehicle stolen.

He was charged with illegally operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance, illegally operating a restricted motor vehicle, evading responsibility and failing to maintain a proper lane.

Singh was released on $500 bail and given a court date in New Britain on Tuesday.
