There will be no light show at Saks Fifth Avenue this year – NBC New York

One of the most popular signs of the holidays in New York City is no more.

Saks will not host its signature light show on the building’s Fifth Avenue facade this holiday season, the company confirmed to NBC New York on Monday.

“We have been thinking about changing our approach for some time. We will not be hosting a light show this year as we have changed our approach to holiday windows,” a spokesperson for Saks Fifth Avenue told NBC New York.

New Yorkers walking down Fifth Avenue this month may have noticed that there are no signs of preparations for a light show at the front of the building.

Saks will still have new looks for its iconic window displays starting in November. The company said it will “celebrate the season by honoring the architectural significance of this iconic building, elegantly lighting the façade and framing the holiday windows, and highlighting the fashion that Saks Fifth Avenue is known for.”

Saks said shoppers will see the illuminated building and hear “magical jingles” during the holiday season. However, a Saks spokesperson confirmed that the traditional light show New Yorkers are familiar with will not take place in 2024.

This season marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the flagship Saks Fifth Avenue New York location.

Last year’s Christmas light show and windows were a partnership between Saks and Dior. Actress Jennifer Lawrence attended the premiere of the light show last year, which included fireworks.

More information about this year’s showcase will be available later this month.
