Three people are hospitalized after a stabbing in Ames, but the suspect is still at large

Three people were injured in a knife attack in Ames on Friday evening.

According to a news release from the Ames Police Department, police were called to the 3700 block of Tripp Street, near the western Hy-Vee, around 5:30 p.m. Friday. Officers found a crime scene on the street and two victims nearby.

The first two victims were transported by ambulance to Mary Greeley Medical Center. A short time later, another victim arrived at the hospital. Two of the victims remain hospitalized in unknown conditions and one victim was transferred to MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, police said Friday evening.

The investigation is ongoing and a suspect has not yet been arrested.

Ames police said in a news release Saturday that investigators believe everyone involved in the stabbing knew each other and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
