Top 25 in Week 11

Ohio State moves into the top three: The Buckeyes move up a few spots after defeating the previous no. 3 Penn State on Saturday.

This Tuesday, the College Football Playoff selection committee will announce its first rankings. It will be interesting to see how the committee handles the chaos of Week 10, as six top 20 teams lost last weekend.

Here’s what PFF’s top 25 looks like heading into Week 11. Please note that these are not the same as those PFF’s Power Rankings.


1. Oregon Ducks (Record: 9-0, Previous: 1st)

Week 11 Matchup: vs. Maryland Water turtles

Oregon took care of business on the other hand Michiganand won with a final score of 38-17. The Ducks held the Wolverines’ offense to just 4.1 yards per carry and 165 total passing yards.


2. Georgia Bulldogs (Record: 7-1, Previous: 2nd)

Week 11 matchup: ranked 15th Ole Miss Rebels

Georgia has endured a shock Florida at the world’s largest outdoor cocktail party and won 34 to 20. Carson Beck had a passing grade of 56.3 in the win, his second straight game with a grade below 60. Before the last two games, he had never had a passing grade in his career under 60.


3. Ohio State Buckeyes (Record: 7-1, Previous: 6th)

Week 11 Matchup: vs. Purdue Boilermaker

Ohio State won its eighth straight game over No. 3 Penn Stateand emerged victorious with a final score of 20:13. The Buckeyes defense allowed just six points from the Nittany Lions offense and held them to zero points Penn StateThat’s two drives inside the five-yard line.


4. Miami (FL) Hurricanes (Record: 9-0, Previous: 4th)

Week 11 Matchup: at Georgia Tech Yellow jackets

In a story as old as time, Cam Ward scored a double-digit comeback in the second half to take the lead Miami to victory. The current betting favorite to win the Heisman Trophy (+200) averaged an absurd 15.4 yards per pass in the second half and led the Hurricanes to a 53-31 victory duke.


5. Texas Longhorns (Record: 7-1, Previous: 5th)

Week 11 Matchup: vs. Florida Alligators

Texas was out last week and will resume play against him Florida this weekend.


6. BYU Cougars (Record: 8-0, Previous: 7th)

Week 11 Matchup: at Utah Utes

BYU had paused last week and will resume the holy war against its arch rival Utah this weekend.


7. Penn State Nittany Lions (Record: 7-1, Previous: 3rd)

Week 11 Matchup: vs. Washington Huskies

Penn State had to accept his first defeat of the season Ohio State on Saturday. The Nittany Lions’ lack of perimeter weapons was their ultimate undoing. Penn StateThe wide receivers posted a reception rating of 56.8 and had three catches for a total of 49 yards.


8. Indiana Hoosiers (Record: 9-0, Previous: 13th)

Week 11 Matchup: vs. Michigan Wolverines

Indiana started 9-0 with a dominant 47-10 win for the first time in program history Michigan State. This is not only the Hoosiers’ best start, but also the record for most wins in an entire season. Indiana‘s run defense dominated the Spartans, allowing -0.4 yards before contact per attempt.


9. Tennessee Volunteers (Record: 7-1, Previous: 11th)

Week 11 Matchup: vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Tennessee had some difficulty putting it away Kentucky on Saturday night and won 28-18. The Volunteers’ offense once again ran through Dylan Sampson. He ran for 140 yards and two touchdowns against the Wildcats. Sampson’s 19 rushing totals this year are one fewer than FBS leader Ashton Jeanty.


10. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Record: 7-1, Previous: 9th)

Week 11 Matchup: vs. State of Florida Seminoles

Notre Dame had a break last week and will resume the game against the injured players State of Florida Seminoles in Week 11.


11. Alabama Crimson Tide (Record: 6-2, Previous: 15.)
