“Tron Ares” director Joachim Ronning announces a “more emotional” return to the network

With Tron: Ares will be released in cinemas in October 2025, director Joachim Rønning suggests a slight difference and is unexpected for the franchise. Rønning spoke to Deadline as part of a feature on international filmmakers “shaking up” the industry, with the Danish director speaking at length about his career and future endeavors. Tron: Ares Filming wrapped back in May after filming in Vancouver, and Rønning admitted that he was excited to delve into the science fiction genre for the first time in his career.



“For my next project, it was fantastic to make a science fiction film set in a computer. It’s my dream as a filmmaker to be able to switch between such different stories.”
