Trump’s new border czar receives death threats

Tom Homan, President-elect Donald Trump’s newly appointed “border czar,” revealed that he and his family have received death threats since his appointment.

Homan, who is responsible for overseeing U.S. border security, revealed on Fox & Friends Monday morning that his family is currently “not home” due to the death threats. The former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), appointed by Trump on Truth Social, vowed that these threats would not deter him from his mission.

“We will deal with that. You won’t silence me. You won’t force me to leave. This is the largest national security breach this country has experienced since 9/11. “This is what we have to fix the problem,” he said.

“They won’t bully me,” Homan added.

Newsweek has reached out to Homan and the Trump-Vance transition team for comment.

Border security and mass deportations were central issues on the Republican Party’s platform and played a crucial role in Donald Trump’s decisive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

As the new border czar, Homan will be tasked with keeping Trump’s promises to enforce stricter immigration policies.

Homan said his job will be to implement Trump’s flagship policies and carry out “the largest deportation operation in history,” and that he will first target those who “a federal judge said needed to go, and they have.” not done.”

“I have been on this network for years complaining about what this government has done to this border. I screamed and screamed about it and what they needed to do to fix it. When the President asked me, ‘Would you come?’ go back and repair?’ Of course I would be a hypocrite if I didn’t.

Homan added, “I’m honored that the President has asked me to come back and help resolve this national security crisis, so I look forward to it.”

“You have the right to apply for asylum. You have the right to see a judge. We make it possible…” [But if the] “The judge says you have to go home, then we have to take her home,” Homan said.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, illegal border crossings have increased sharply under the Biden-Harris administration, reaching nearly 3 million in fiscal year 2024. Over 10.8 million illegal encounters occurred under Joe Biden’s presidency.

Homan’s appointment is expected to be critical in addressing issues related to the southern border: border security, mass deportations and cracking down on cartels.

His role is at the forefront of immigration policy and could be the key to the success or failure of the Trump administration. Promises on immigration were at the forefront of Trump’s bid for the White House and helped him win.

In one 60 minutes When Homan was asked in an interview whether there was a way to carry out a mass deportation plan without separating families, he said: “Of course there is. Families can be deported together.”

Family separation at the U.S.-Mexico border occurs when children are removed from their parents or guardians after entering the U.S. illegally.

Amy Fischer, director of refugee and migrant rights at Amnesty International USA, said of Homan’s appointment: “President-elect Trump has already openly announced his intention to implement policies that completely disregard human rights, human dignity and family unity.”

“The President-elect has repeatedly spread damaging lies about immigrant communities and spread unfounded accusations against people seeking safety in the United States.”

“And now news reports suggest that President-elect Trump is aiming to appoint officials with a history of carrying out family separations and mass deportations.”

She added: “The proposed measures are based on racism and xenophobia and are aimed solely at inflicting cruel and immense suffering on people coming to the US to rebuild their lives. Immigrant communities are important members of the U.S., contributing to the economy, paying taxes, and helping cities and towns thrive.”

Homan also reportedly accepted an invitation to a white nationalist conference organized by Nick Fuentes, known for his Holocaust denial. Fuentes also dined with Trump and Kanye West at Mar-a-Lago in 2022.
