Trump’s US election victory is being addressed by desperate US late night hosts Kimmel, Colbert and others

In their hushed opening monologues, the late-night hosts expressed their shocked reactions to Donald Trump’s election victory.

While the world of film, television and music voiced their reactions to the result, there was a sense of shock in the nightly episodes that followed Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris to become the 47th president of the United States.

As Harris supporters, every host from Jimmy Kimmel to Stephen Colbert shared anti-Trump sentiments, with Jimmy Kimmel struggling to hold back tears on Wednesday night (November 6).

Kimmel acknowledged that Trump was convicted of a crime earlier this year and said of the outcome, “We chose the criminal.”

“More than half of this country voted for the criminal who plans to pardon himself for his crimes. “I suspect that this election was not rigged,” he said at the beginning Jimmy Kimmel Live!and addressed Trump’s repeated claims that Joe Biden’s 2020 victory was rigged.

While Kimmel found time for comedy, he became emotional as he said, “It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hard-working immigrants who make this country run, for health care, for our climate, for Science, for journalism, for justice, for free expression.”

He continued: “It was a terrible night for poor people, for the middle class, for seniors in need of social security, for our allies in Ukraine, for NATO, for truth, democracy and decency.”

“And it was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him. And guess what? It was also a bad night for everyone who voted for him – you just don’t realize it yet.”

However, Kimmel mentioned two people who will be happy with the outcome: Vladimir Putin and “lovable billionaires like Elon Musk.”
