  • Asmongold was contacted by the FBI earlier this year.
  • The FBI questioned Asmongold about an incident in which streamer Denims was accused of putting a $30,000 bounty on his head.
  • Asmongold announced that he had decided not to press charges.

Twitch Streamer Asmongold recently revealed that he was contacted by the FBI about an incident where it appeared another streamer had put a bounty on his head. Asmongold is one of Twitch’s most popular and controversial streamers.

In October, Asmongold was banned from Twitch for two weeks after making offensive comments about Palestinians. Following the incident, Asmongold withdrew from OTK and other companies where he held leadership positions. Asmongold has since returned to Twitch and apologized. He said his viewers “deserve more” than what he said during the stream and promised to “do better.”

Asmongold returns to Twitch and comments on previous behavior

Asmongold is back on Twitch after his 14-day ban from the platform and shares thoughts about his past behavior with his viewers.

Since returning to Twitch, Asmongold has been streaming the re-release Dragon Age: The Veil Guardian and has provided commentary on various world events. In a recent stream, Asmongold was asked by a viewer about an incident from earlier this year in which fellow streamer Denims was accused of putting a $30,000 bounty on his head, but somehow wasn’t banned from Twitch. Asmongold explained that he had actually been contacted by the FBI about the incident, but that he decided not to press charges because she was “joking” and that after watching the clip again, “obviously “I didn’t talk about me.”

While Denims does not appear to have been banned for this incident, at the time of writing, the streamer is currently banned from Twitch for a completely different reason. Twitch has banned Denims and a handful of other streamers for “hateful behavior.” The bans are believed to stem from a TwitchCon panel where Denims and the other attendees were accused by some of being anti-Semitic. However, it’s entirely possible that the bans are related to something else, as Twitch hasn’t provided any details beyond saying the bans were issued for “hateful behavior.” In any case, this is the second time Denims has been banned from Twitch, with the first ban occurring in November 2023. Denims’ current Twitch ban is expected to last 30 days, meaning she will most likely return to Twitch sometime in late November.

Twitch has promised to be more transparent about bans. However, that doesn’t mean that viewers will be informed of the exact reasons why certain streamers were banned. Instead, streamers themselves will be provided with the clip showing what they did to get banned, which should hopefully ease a lot of confusion about the platform’s moderation practices.
