Two people were charged Friday afternoon in connection with an alleged harassment incident.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office states that a 57-year-old woman went to a home in the 5000 block of Grange Road with a moving truck and several friends at about 4:15 p.m. and was preparing to move out.

The 54-year-old man, Derek Carter, who is currently separated from the woman, arrived at the scene as the truck was being loaded. The man allegedly pulled out a gun while telling the woman’s friends to leave or he would shoot them. Carte reportedly pointed the gun at one of the friends. Eventually he put the gun away and began unloading the truck.

The woman confronted the man and tried to stop him from taking the items. She is said to have scratched Carter, while the woman’s husband injured the woman’s finger in the scuffle.

Carter was taken into custody. The gun was removed from his truck. It was a loaded .22 caliber 1911 pistol. Carter had two other firearms in the vehicle, which officers took for safekeeping. He was charged with two counts of threatening, unlawful use of a weapon, pointing a firearm at another person and harassment. Carter was held without bail.

The woman was cited for harassment and released.
