Two were arrested for allegedly transporting illegal drugs

MOORHEAD, MIN. (Valley News Live) – Two people were arrested after allegedly transporting illegal drugs from Minneapolis to Moorhead.

Tyler Kania, 35, of Moorhead, and Laquedrick Lemel As-Sidiq, 34, of St. Louis Park, were arrested on drug charges.

Officials say an investigation began in June 2024 when they received information about an organization that was transporting illegal drugs from Minneapolis to Moorhead, where they would distribute them.

On Sunday, Nov. 3, investigators said they stopped two men in a vehicle as they drove to Moorhead. During the stop, officers seized 458 grams of methamphetamine, 46 grams of cocaine, 101 grams of marijuana and 12 morphine tablets. The street value of the drugs was estimated at $15,000.

As-Sidiq has a criminal record for drug trafficking in Minnesota with a gang called Taliban/Young N’ Thuggin. Gang members frequently traveled throughout Minnesota distributing illegal drugs. As-Sidiq is still on federal probation for those crimes.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted the Moorhead Police Department.
