UFC 310 gets potential Fight of the Night added to card

The top portion of the UFC 310 card is in the works as the promotion appears to still be looking for an opponent to replace welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, who is sidelined with a bone infection in his toe.

Shavkhat Rahkmonov is open to an interim fight, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Despite this minor confusion, the promotion continues to fill the rest of the event with top-notch fights – at least on paper. A potentially epic fight between Nate Landwehr and Doo Ho Choi was recently added to the featherweight card.

UFC CEO Dana White will smile at this and it could be a candidate for his social media series: “If you don’t know, you know now.”

There may not be a match in the history of the sport with more seemingly guaranteed fireworks. If you’re familiar with Landwehr and Choi, you’ll understand why this fight looks so good.

Landwehr has won four performance bonuses in his UFC career and he has won the additional $50,000 in three of his last four fights. This series of bonuses also includes a “Fight of the Night” bonus for his role in a gruesome fight with David Onama in August 2022. Landwehr won that fight by majority decision.

In addition to strong performances, Landwehr is also experiencing the most successful phase of his UFC career. He has won four of his last five, with his only loss coming to Dan Ige in June 2023.

A win at UFC 310 could move the 36-year-old closer to the rankings, which would be a notable achievement for him at this point in his career.

Choi seems to have been around forever, but he’s only 33 years old. The South Korean returned to the UFC in February 2023 after completing his two-year commitment to his country’s military.

Choi earned a draw against Kyle Nelson in February 2023 before returning to the win column with a spectacular knockout win over Bill Algeo in July.

Before joining the military, Choi had earned a reputation as a human highlight star and a walking fight-of-the-night magnet. From 2015 to 2019, Choi received performance bonuses in five consecutive fights.

He was the dance partner in three consecutive Fight of the Night bonus winners, including an epic bout with Cub Swanson in December 2016 that was enshrined in the UFC Hall of Fame as one of the greatest fights in the promotion’s history.

Unfortunately for Choi, he lost all three of those fights of the night, snapping a three-fight losing streak in his absence from the UFC.

When he takes on Landwehr on December 7, Choi will look to build his first winning streak in eight years and slow his opponent’s momentum.

Here’s a look at the remaining fights expected to be part of the UFC 310 card.
