UPDATE: GBI arrests 18-year-old as part of death investigation

DUBLIN – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested an 18-year-old in connection with the death of a Georgia man.

On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Quentin Vanteryll Gibson, 18, of Dublin, Georgia, was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with the death of Hicks. Gibson was booked into the Laurens County Jail.

At the request of Dublin Police, GBI agents are investigating the death of 35-year-old Cortez Hicks of Dublin, GA.

On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at approximately 11:55 a.m., Dublin Police were dispatched and responded to a residence in the 400 block of Jones Village Lane, Dublin, Laurens County, Georgia for a shooting. Hicks was discovered inside the home with gunshot wounds.

Hicks was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

The investigation is active and ongoing. There were no arrests.
