Varsity Stats: Cougs will roll out charcoal jerseys against Utah State

For the first time in three weeks, the Washington State Cougars are back in Pullman and host the Utah State Aggies on Saturday at 7:30 p.m

With the game taking place at night, the Cougs have opted for their dark look, wearing their refreshing charcoal jerseys paired with an all crimson top and charcoal pants.

Since Jake Dickert announced the “phasing out” of charcoal helmets, this seems to be the new choice for an all charcoal look. Instead, swap out the old charcoal gray helmet for the all-purple one. This will be the sixth, never-before-worn uniform set that WSU debuts this season.

On Saturday we will see the new charcoal jerseys for the second time after debuting them against Texas Tech earlier this season.

Although WSU has not worn the crimson, charcoal and charcoal jersey combination since the 2017 uniform refresh, they have worn it six times since introducing the charcoal jersey in 2011 and have an even record of 3-3. The last time WSU wore this combination was in 2015 against Arizona State. It’s worth noting that the crimson helmets wore a white face mask in those six games, as opposed to the crimson face mask WSU will wear this week.

The all-crimson helmet is 11-9 since its debut in 2016, and the charcoal pants are 13-12 since 2017, 3-0 this season.
