Here is a summary of recent incidents and announcements from Ventura County authorities:

101 accident victims named

Authorities released the names of two people who died in a crash involving a parked large truck on southbound Highway 101 in Newbury Park last week.

Serenity Rizkalla, 19, was from Pico Rivera, the Ventura County coroner’s office reported. Los Angeles resident Michael Estrella was 20 years old.

Both were passengers in a 2016 Honda Civic driven by a 19-year-old Pico Rivera man who survived the crash. Another passenger, a 20-year-old Castaic man, also survived.

Shortly before 5:30 a.m. Thursday, the Honda, which had been traveling at a high rate of speed, failed to negotiate the southbound Wendy Drive exit ramp, California Highway Patrol officials said. The car continued onto the right shoulder where it struck a parked semi-trailer and then struck a large boulder. The Honda overturned and landed on its roof.

Three people, including the two victims, were thrown from the car. They died at the scene.

There were no arrests. Authorities initially didn’t know whether drugs or alcohol played a role.

The Moorpark Area CHP Office is investigating.

Shots were fired at the Ventura mobile home park

Ventura police are investigating shootings at homes and a car at a mobile home park in west Ventura Monday evening.

Ventura Police received multiple calls about shots fired in the 300 block of West Ramona Street. A caller heard four gunshots and a car speeding away, said Cmdr. Ryan Weeks.

No one was injured, but officers found shell casings and bullet holes in two occupied homes, an empty home and a vehicle, he said.

Police called a Ventura County Sheriff’s Office helicopter and used a K-9 police dog to search for the suspects. There were no arrests.
