Violent accident in Chesterfield Township sends one to the hospital – The Voice

A 50-year-old woman was hospitalized after a serious accident in Chesterfield Township on Tuesday morning.

Police said the woman was driving a 2022 Ford Escape westbound on 23 Mile Road around 7:10 a.m. when she rear-ended a 2017 Lincoln that was stopped at a red light on Seaden Drive east of Interstate 94 let himself. The Lincoln caught fire, but all occupants were able to get out safely, Detective Sgt. Joseph Feld said.

The Ford overturned and the driver was extricated from the vehicle by the Chesterfield Township Fire Department. She was taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital for treatment and is said to be in stable condition, Feld said.

The road remained closed late Tuesday morning due to an ongoing investigation.
