WATCH: Elderly woman in Washington state attacks and beats two Trump supporters

An 82-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of hate crimes and assault after she allegedly punched two supporters of now-President Trump – the interaction was caught on camera.

The incident occurred on Monday, November 4th – a day before the general election – At an intersection in Edmonds, Washington, where a group of Trump supporters were stationed.

The 82-year-old suspect, who has not been publicly identified by police, was accused of pushing and punching a 55-year-old woman and a 66-year-old woman after a verbal altercation occurred, Edmonds police said a publication.

Shortly after 1 p.m., police were dispatched to reports of an assault.

When they arrived, they found an 82-year-old woman interacting with several Trump supporters.

In police body camera footage obtained by Fox News Digital, the 82-year-old suspect can be heard explaining her actions to law enforcement.

“I walked up to her and said, ‘I want to know why you’re voting for Trump.’ That’s the only thing. And I said, ‘Because you’re brown,'” she said.

“I was a teacher, I hate racism in this country. I hate how people are treated and so my question was how can a brown person support this person,” she said. “And she immediately started screaming, ‘Racist, racist’.”

“And my reaction was to push her away. And it wasn’t hard,” she said. “I didn’t help the situation.”

During a subsequent investigation into the altercation, the 55-year-old woman told officers that the older woman “got in her face,” commented on her clothing and skin color, and then pushed her and hit her on the chin.

A second victim, a 66-year-old woman from Edmonds, said when she saw what was happening, she intervened. The 82-year-old suspect responded by hitting her too.

Officers said they interviewed several people who witnessed the incident as part of their investigation.

The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on hate crime and assault charges. Police said the suspect showed “no remorse” when questioned.

“The Constitution protects peaceful demonstrations in our community, and community members must never face violence while exercising these rights. “Our officers determined this was more than just an assault and arrested the suspect on the appropriate charges,” Edmonds Police Chief Michelle Bennett said.
