WATCH LIVE: Biden talks about Trump’s victory and the transfer of power in his remarks at the White House

Former President Donald Trump’s impending return to the White House means he wants to build an entirely new administration than the one under President Joe Biden. His team also promises that the second one won’t look anything like the first one, which Trump set after his 2016 victory.

Biden is scheduled to speak at 11 a.m. ET. Watch it in the player above.

The president-elect now has a 75-day grace period to build out his team before Inauguration Day on January 20th. A top item on the to-do list: filling around 4,000 government positions with politically appointed people who are specifically promoted for their jobs by Trump’s team.

This includes everyone from the Secretary of State and other heads of Cabinet departments to those selected for part-time employment on boards and commissions. About 1,200 of those presidential appointments require Senate confirmation, which should be easier now that the Senate is under Republican control.
