What time does Kamala Harris speak? Watch her concession speech – NBC Chicago

NOTE: NBC Chicago will offer a live feed of Harris’ remarks starting at 3 p.m. CT in the player above.

Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to give her official concession speech on Wednesday afternoon.

Harris will address the nation for the first time since late-night phone calls that projected Donald Trump as the next president-elect.

Her address is scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. CT at Howard University in Washington DC, her alma mater. Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will also be in attendance.

The live broadcast of the address will initially be displayed in the player above.

The address came after a Harris campaign spokesman said the vice president would not speak on election night.

“We still have to count votes. We still have states that haven’t been called yet. We’re going to continue overnight and try to make sure that every vote is counted, that every vote has spoken,” campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond said on election night. “So you won’t hear from the vice president tonight. But you will hear from her tomorrow because tomorrow she will come back here to speak not only to the HU family, not only to her supporters, but also to the nation.”

Around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, NBC News predicted that Trump would become the next president-elect after securing Wisconsin’s 10 Electoral College votes. These votes gave Trump a lead of 276 electoral votes, exceeding the 270 electoral votes required for victory.

The president-elect will also have at least Republican control of the Senate. The Democrats previously had a slim majority in the Senate. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives is still in full swing.

If Trump takes the oath of office, he will become only the second person in history to serve two non-consecutive terms in the White House, joining Grover Cleveland in that group.

Trump told the audience at his election night party early Wednesday that it was “time to unite as a country.”

“It’s time to put the divisions of the last four years behind us,” Trump said. “It’s time to unite.”

“We need to put our country first, at least for a while,” he added. “We have to fix it.”

He promised that he would “not rest until we deliver a strong, secure and prosperous America.”

“Every single day,” Trump said, “I will fight for you with every breath in my body.”

Republican Donald Trump addressed his supporters after winning critical swing states on election night.
