Wheeling police identify a man shot after an early morning bar fight

Wheeling police say a person of interest is in custody following the shooting death of a 24-year-old Hampshire man at a bar in Wheeling early Sunday.

Police said Jacob Taylor was shot after an argument just after 2 a.m. Sunday at the Social Bar and Grill at 401 E. Dundee Road.

Wheeling Police Deputy Chief Al Steffen said investigators are interviewing witnesses and patrons to independently confirm the events leading up to the shooting.

Taylor was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead.

No other guests were injured. Witnesses told police the shooter fled the scene.
