Will Tyreek Hill play in Week 10? Latest Dolphins WR injury updates

play

The Miami Dolphins have not often been at full strength on offense during the 2024 NFL season and it appears questionable whether their qualifying groups will be intact in Week 10.

Tyreek Hill, the team’s No. 1 receiver, is dealing with an injury that kept him out of the Dolphins’ practice on Friday and Saturday. That leaves many Miami fans and fantasy football owners wondering if Hill can get fit in Week 10 or if he needs a week off to get it right.

Here’s what you should know about Hill’s injury and his status heading into Week 10.

Hill did not participate in the Dolphins’ practice on both Friday and Saturday as he was dealing with a wrist injury.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel provided an update on Hill’s status on Saturday, saying the receiver would play Monday “if his body allows it.” He also explained that Hill’s wrist injury was “getting worse” and the team wanted to “let it cool down.” which is why Hill missed practice on Friday and Saturday.

Hill was not on Miami’s injury report for Thursday’s practice. He was listed as a full participant during the session, the first of the week in which Miami was required to file an injury report.

Hill’s non-participation naturally raised questions about his status on the Dolphins’ Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10.

It’s not yet clear whether Hill’s injury will prevent him from playing for the Dolphins against the Rams in Week 10. When asked about the receiver’s status on Saturday, McDaniel said he was “neither optimistic nor pessimistic” about Hill’s chances of playing.

“He’s doing everything he can to play,” McDaniel told reporters, according to the Miami Herald. “We’ll see how he reacts. I’m optimistic he’ll do everything he can.” [to play].”

McDaniel’s comments about Hill’s wrist injury made it clear that the team wasn’t just giving him a day of rest. Miami had allowed the 30-year-old a hit prior to his Week 9 game when he was also listed with a foot injury, so some had wondered if his absence Friday presented a similar situation for the veteran pass-catcher.

HoweverAs listed on the Dolphins’ Week 10 injury report, Hill did not receive rest honors on any of the days he missed. Other veterans like Terron Armstead, Calais Campbell, and Jordan Poyer did, so Hill’s injury appears to be a real problem.

Because of this, Hill tends to make a real game decision. His fantasy managers will keep a close eye on his status and be prepared to grab a backup option off the waiver wire if the star speedster can’t keep up.

Dolphins WR depth chart

The Dolphins currently only have five receivers on their 53-man roster, including Hill. They are as follows:

  1. Tyreek Hill
  2. Jaylen Waddle
  3. Odell Beckham Jr.
  4. Malik Washington
  5. Dee Eskridge

Eskridge won’t play in Week 10 for personal reasons, so the Dolphins will be particularly shorthanded with Hill also out of action.

Waddle is the No. 1 option if Hill has to miss time, while Beckham Jr. and Washington would take on larger roles within the receiving corps. The team could also bring back veteran receiver River Cracraft from a shoulder injury; he could play a key role in replacing Hill.

The Dolphins have seen 10 different receivers log snaps this season. If Cracraft returns and plays in Week 10, that number will increase to 11.
